GENESIS: The Solution to the Optical Conversion

Optical migrations typically involve the movement of very large amounts of data to newer storage media. Although Optical storage is generally used in the role of long term repository and there may be many years worth of data stored, sometimes the data is still active (being retrieved) and this access combined with the sheer size of the data repository means that the conversion process could last weeks or months. The potential for media failures and data integrity issues increases with the amount of data and the conversion time.

GENESIS is a database driven tool that uses a processing calendar to assign the daily conversion work
for GENESIS in an allotted timeframe. The product is parameter driven to control all aspects of the data migration including the details of the storage groups.

In addition, GENESIS includes logic that optimizes data access during the migration to reduce platter mounts/dismounts and flips which can significantly impact migration time and reduce media failures.

If you're ready to eliminate the expense of optical workloads check out GENESIS!
